Preparation of the organic fabric softener for washing machine or hand washing

The preparation is very simple, all you need is a large enough container for the mixture.

  • First mix the liter of water with half a liter of vinegar. We chose white vinegar to avoid discoloration.
  • Sprinkle a little baking soda into the mixture and you will notice the foam instantly appear. So don’t sprinkle everything in at once, otherwise the mixture could overflow from the container!
  • Mix everything until you get a uniform product. We recommend storing it in a plastic bottle as you can now use it like a regular fabric softener.

Just give it a try so you can see that this environmentally friendly, cheap and homemade fabric softener can really be used effectively.

    Natural solution against bad smells

Vinegar is one of the best fabric softeners we can use on our laundry and towels in particular. Towels often retain a lot of moisture.

If you don’t dry them thoroughly after each use, they can smell bad. Often you ca n’t even get this smell out by washing.

Vinegar is not only used as a fabric softener but also as a cleaning agent for many objects and corners in the house, such as the kitchen and bathroom.

It has a strong smell, but the odor dissipates when it dries, so it is very effective at removing stains and bad smells.

If you notice stains on a towel, you can pour some vinegar directly over it. Let it soak for 10 minutes and then wash it as usual.

    Tips to wash towels

    • It is ideal to wash them with cold water, white vinegar, lemon, and a little perfumed ammonia. This is how we make sure that they smell good.
    • We should n’t use industrial fabric softener or a lot of washing powder to wash the towels . It may seem paradoxical, but if we add too much washing powder, it may not wash properly.
    • If you don’t have a dryer, you will need to hang towels outdoors, not indoors. They need to be dried well before you put them away so that they don’t smell bad again.
    • Don’t wash too many towels at once, or over-stuff the washing machine. Otherwise, you’ll make the laundry more difficult and you may have to start over.

As you can see, making a homemade fabric softener isn’t difficult at all. Just try it out for yourself so you can see how well it works!
